Instead of taking responsibility for his own oratory mistakes, Actor Clint Eastwood is blaming the Republican Party for the backlash over his speech.

Eastwood told Access Hollywood that Mitt Romney’s campaign was dumb for inviting him to speak during the Republican National Convention in August.

"If somebody’s dumb enough to ask me to go to a political convention and say something, they’re gonna have to take what they get,” Eastwood said.

The address, also known as the “Empty Chair Speech” received widespread criticism from both Republicans and Democrats. The empty chair was to represent an invisible President Barack Obama as though they were having a hypothetical conversation.

The 82-year-old actor, whose film “Trouble with the Curve” opens this Friday, said he was simply expressing his feelings during the address.  When he was asked if he would speak again he said: "I never look backward. It’s done and it’s done. I probably would. I wouldn’t be afraid of it."
