You can smell like Halle or Jennifer Lopez and dress like Jessica Simpson or the Kardashians. Now, there’s equal time for the guys. Actor Blair Underwood has been announced as a spokesman for K&G Fashion Superstore, who launched his BU Collection of men’s tailored suits last year.  K&G already sells discounted clothing for men, women and children in 95 retail stores in 20 states. The BU Collection includes two- and three-button men’s 100% wool suits along with complementary shirts and ties. Underwood will be part of a campaign, “It’s Time to BU”, that will be seen nationally. K&G’s Facebook page features Underwood in clothing from the collection as well as some facts about him. One interesting one is that Underwood’s mother, Marilyn, was herself a clothing designer in New York in the 1960’s.

“As the founder and public spokesperson for the Men's Wearhouse, I can truly appreciate the contribution Blair Underwood is making to K&G in this new role," said George Zimmer, Executive Chairman of the Board at Men's Wearhouse, the parent company of K&G Fashion Superstore. "We've had the opportunity to work closely with Blair as we developed his BU clothing line, and we recognized that his warm personality, impressive fashion sense, and ongoing commitment to give back to the community exemplify the K&G brand."

For his part, Underwood, who’s also presenting the latest book, “South By Southeast,” in the Tennyson Hardwick detective novel series which comes out Tuesday, says that he chose to work with K&G because of their history of providing quality clothing at a discount.

Underwood’s presence with the brand must be working. The store’s financial outlook, released last week, shows an improved second quarter performance and an increase in total revenue, according to Yahoo.com.  Underwood’s presence will also be part of the DVD sales push for his most recent  theatrical release, the T.D. Jakes produced “Woman Thou Art Loosed: On the 7th Day” which came out on DVD on September 4. Watch the film trailer below.
