Tom Joyner will be there, and so will comedienne/actress Kym Whitley. “There” is Cleveland, OH this weekend for the 2012 Cleveland Classic. The annual football game pits Morehouse vs. Winston-Salem State and is chock-full of other activities. The Tom Joyner Morning Show broadcasts live from Cleveland’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum today and Whitley co-hosts the Cleveland Classic Greek Step Show with Cleveland Browns player Ahmaad Crump, which takes place tonight at the Quicken Loans Center from 7-10 p.m. There is also a pre-game Tailgate Party which Joyner is slated to attend, a College Readiness Fair (requires registration)a gospel show, an educational symposium, a College Fair (open to the public) and what HBCU school football game would be complete without a halftime Marching Band show?  Cleveland Browns player T.J. Ward the honorary chair of the 2012 Cleveland Classic, will be in attendance at the Greek Step Show.  The coaches are also fired up for the game. Though only in its second year, it’s expected to become one of the highlights of the HBCU college football season.

“It is an honor and a privilege to play in the 2012 Cleveland Classic. We look forward to coming to Cleveland, Ohio to face a very formidable Morehouse College Tiger football team. This is a great opportunity for Winston-Salem State University to face a tough opponent in a professional football venue and we look forward to putting on a great show,” said Connell Maynor, Head Football Coach for the Winston-Salem State University Tigers.

Given its rich history of educating young Black men, Morehouse is also excited about the game and the Classic’s future. “The entire Morehouse family – players, coaches, fans and alumni – is looking forward to participating in the Cleveland Classic,” said Yusuf Davis, Morehouse College Sports Information Director. “We are certain that the Classic will be a success on every level and we anticipate that this will be one of the highlights of our season.

Joyner will do the coin toss at the game, which takes place on Saturday, September 15 at Cleveland Browns Stadium at 12 noon. Dru Hill will also be on hand to perform the National Anthem.
