CARROLLTON, Texas (AP) — A 30-year-old man has been charged with capital murder in the death of a teenage suburban Dallas girl whose body was found in a secluded wooden area near the Trinity River.

A Carrollton Police Department statement Sunday said Franklin B. Davis of Irving was previously arrested on unrelated traffic warrants and confined to the city jail.

Police say the distant acquaintance of 16-year-old Shania Gray of Carrollton also faced charges relating to a previous incident involving the girl. Her body was found Saturday in a wooded stretch of the Trinity River in Irving, two days after she went missing from school in Carrollton.

Police allege he arranged to meet with the girl after school Thursday, drove her to an Irving park, shot her and left her body in the river.
