Utah Man Comes Clean in Obituary

  • A Utah man made his indiscretions public through a personally-written obituary.

    Val Patterson revealed several truths to his family and friends by writing his own obituary and publishing it in the Salt Lake City Tribune.

    The 59-year-old died a week later on July 10 from throat cancer.

    Patterson wrote that although his family believed he received his doctorate degree from the University of Utah, it was actually a paperwork mistake. He never graduated.
