  • The legendary 62-year-old musical genius has issued an apology in the wake of comments he made about the sexual orientation of R&B newcomer Frank Ocean, who, not too long ago, told the world that his first love was a man.

“I’m sorry that my words about anyone feeling confused about their love were misunderstood,” said Wonder in a statement to The Advocate.

Wonder was referring to remarks he made in an interview with The Guardian, where he complimented Ocean’s music but said “some people who think they’re gay, they’re confused.”

“People can misconstrue closeness for love. People can feel connected, they bond,” Wonder went on to say in the interview. “I’m not saying all [gay people are confused]. Some people have a desire to be with the same sex. But that’s them.”

“No one has been a greater advocate for the power of love in this world than I; both in my life and in my music. Clearly, love is love, between a man and a woman, a woman and a man, a woman and a woman and a man and a man. What I’m not confused about is the world needing much more love, no hate, no prejudice, no bigotry and more unity, peace and understanding. Period.”

Interestingly, Frank Ocean’s debut album, Channel Orange, drew many comparisons to Stevie Wonder’s artistry. And even more interestingly, according to reports, Wonder sang the hook of “No Church in the Wild” to Ocean when they met backstage at a concert.

    2. Maybe it is about the music, sounding too much alike .Stevie said he was sorry. Can the person who said he could trip him down have anger issues?
There are circumstances that speak to both in the LBGT community . Some folk ae confused and folk play on that confusion. Like a young person w/a crush and an older person taking advantage. Then other folk are born homosexual , we tried to hide it and deny it for years but some young children express the visual signs very early making it hard to negate this child is taking a different path than traditional. We love and embrace the person and we are learning not to hurt each other in our comments . As an enlightened person, I am sure that is what my brother Stevie was trying to say. We never know what hell another is experiencing to make them speak out.

    3. I feel that Stevie should be able to say what ever he feels he shouldnt have to apologize for the way he feels about a issue I think he is right some people are confussed that why we have so many people on the down low I kamind you Stevie for saying what u feel

    4. Mr Wonder has very right to speak his mind without the empty threat of violence against him. In America we live in a democracy we value free speech . Rap singer frequently use profane words against wone and felllow Blacks , and I hear no outrage , why all this outrage against Mr. Wonder?

    5. MR Wonder is right some gays are confused and they will tell you that,,,, sometimes they just wanted to try it out,,, hey QFRESH talk to your gay friends 1 on 1 and I am sure some of them will tell you the same,,,, I have semi gay friends that went to the other side and came back,.,,be fair you cant speak for all gays..

    6. I COULD JUST TRIP HIS ASS DOWN A FLIGHT OF METAL STAIRS FOR THAT COMMENT. NO ONE HAS THE DESIRE TO BE LABELED, LOVE HAS NO GENDER ! I HAVE GAY BUDDIES N NEVER THOUGHT TO SAY THEY WERE CONFUSED..SMH
