Crooner KEM was born and raised in Detroit. He was also homeless in Detroit before scoring a record deal that made him the household name he is today. Despite his success, he’s never forgotten his struggle. That’s why for the third year, he’s hosting his “KEM Presents Mack and Third Live: A Call to Service” charity event, a weekend to benefit the homeless at Cass Park. This Sunday, August 25, KEM will be joined by local homeless organizations for a day that provides free health screenings, meals and services to the homeless. There is also a food drive, which last year drew 52,000 people and collected 100,000 canned goods. KEM will perform and provide “A Meal and a Message” for Detroit’s low income and homeless population and he’ll be joined by Frankie Beverly and Maze who will also perform. No purchase or donation is mandatory to attend, although a $5 donation or the equivalent in canned goods is suggested. You can bring the canned food or your donation to the park with you, or you can text “mackandthird” to 80802.
