TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Florida A&M University is keeping its interim president as it searches for a permanent leader and tries to rebuild its image after a culture of hazing was uncovered.

Trustees on Wednesday officially confirmed Larry Robinson as interim president. Robinson had been serving as the school's provost since March. He was named interim president last month during an emergency meeting. Trustees wanted to confirm him at a face-to-face meeting.

Robinson will be paid $325,000 a year. He agreed not to apply for the permanent spot so the school can attract a wide range of applicants.

Robinson replaces James Ammons. He abruptly resigned amid the fallout from the hazing death of a marching band member.
