A new study surveying 1,500 women found that they post unflattering photos of friends on Facebook on purpose.

The research conducted by MyMemory revealed that 25-percent of female users admitted that they post and tag ugly photos of their friends.

The findings also showed that 75-percent of these victimized friends are likely to “un-tag” themselves from the photo. Only a fifth of the women surveyed said that they would refuse a friend’s request to remove the photo.

Posting these photos can have altering effects on these friendships. Two-thirds of the survey participants said that they would be angry if their friend posted an unflattering photo.

Researchers also found that one-third of female users post ugly photos of friends as an act of revenge.
