If you’re anywhere from the East Coast to the Midwest this weekend, there’s no relief from record-breaking temperatures. If you have power, it’s a good idea to stay in, but if you don’t obviously you’ll want to find a space to stay cool. For those around the country for whom double digit summer temperatures are the norm, then you probably already know how to adapt to the heat, but it’s still a good idea to drink plenty of fluids and only head outside when absolutely necessary. If you can, a pool or a beach is always a good summer option to beat the heat.
Lots of festivals underway. There’s the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans, the Baltimore African-American Heritage Festival, the Fresh Music Festival in Tampa, and Fair St. Louis on the Mississippi Riverfront in St. Louis.
Chalk the Walk Artsplosion on the Virginia Beach Boardwalk for the babies and JAB. Too hot for all that, check the list of free museum days at museumfreedays.com or kill a few brain cells with the Three Stooges at the dollar theater.
New on the big screen The Amazing Spiderman and Oliver Stone’s Savages about two drug-dealing guys sharing the same woman. John Travolta stars along side Selma Hayek and not as a pilot JAB.
"The Help" is on Showtime tonight and the The BET Awards ‘12” will re-air tomorrow on BET.
