Teenage boy singing group, Mindless Behavior apologized after receiving backlash from all over for making a crack at Lauryn Hill.

During the BET Awards, the boys shared the stage with comedian Mike Epps to present the award for best female artist.

When Epps decided to sing, terribly, boy group member Ray Ray commented saying, “You sing bad. Like Lauryn Hill tax accountant bad.”

The remark was in reference to Hill’s IRS troubles. She pleaded guilty for not filing returns in 2005, 2006, and 2007. She’s now looking at a $100,000 fine for each offense along with a year in jail.

Even Beyoncé got on the boys’ case about the cheap shot.

So the group took to Twitter and made a public apology.

“We meant no disrespect to our girl Lauryn Hill last night, it was a bad joke. We’re big fans and hope you’re not mad! #peace -MB” (@MindlessBehavior).
