BET has found an unusual way to showcase its awards nominees this year – Hits from the Streets is back. The affable comic personality will host “The Chosen,” BET’s half hour nomination show that will feature specially selected nominees getting a visit from Hits to deliver their official nomination letter. Hits will also give each nominee a specially selected gift. It airs on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. ET.

As you may remember, Hits once had his own show on BET, playing pranks on celebrities and possibly influencing Ashton Kutcher to do his own show, which the world now knows as the popular “Punk’d” series. (Or not, since we can’t prove anything.) But for “The Chosen” viewers, they have the chance to check out their favorite nominees in some surprising situations. The BET Awards will be telecast live from Los Angeles on July 1 at 8 p.m. Samuel L. Jackson hosts, Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, and Usher are scheduled to peform. Rev. Al Sharpton and Frankie Beverly and Maze are the honorees.
