FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — A South Florida teenager who was doused with alcohol and set on fire by middle school classmates is taking the witness stand in the trial of the alleged ringleader.

Prosecutors say 17-year-old Michael Brewer is scheduled to testify Thursday afternoon in the trial of Matthew Bent. Bent is also 17.

Bent is accused of getting another boy to pour the flammable liquid on Brewer in 2009. A third boy confessed to flicking a lighter that set the fire, burning Brewer over 65 percent of his body.

Brewer's parents say he is still dealing with severe scars and nightmares.

Bent faces a potential 30-year prison sentence if convicted of attempted murder. Prosecutors say Bent sought revenge on Brewer over a money dispute and Bent's alleged attempt to steal a bicycle.
