Bank Robber Ran Out of Gas and Called Cab

  • New Jersey police say a man’s robbery efforts were thwarted after his car ran out of gas.

    Authorities in Vineland, New Jersey reported that 32-year-old Steven Mercado entered a local bank on Thursday and demanded money from a teller. He claimed he had a gun in his possession.

    Bank authorities called police as he fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

    Mercado parked briefly at a nearby a business and tried to drive away, but he ran out of gas.
