  • NEW YORK (AP) — Robin Roberts is facing a new medical challenge that will require her to start chemotherapy and get a bone marrow transplant.

The "Good Morning America" anchor announced on the ABC show Monday morning that she has been diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome, a blood and bone marrow disease once known as preleukemia.

She says she will undergo chemo and a bone marrow transplant this year as "pretreatment" for the disease, which she says she has known about for several weeks. She says her sister is a great match for her. While she says she'll miss a day here and there, she'll remain on the air.

Roberts battled breast cancer five years ago.

    1. Personally, I choose to allow Robin Roberts’ personal life style to remain exactly that and leave it between her maker and her. However, I have grown to have a great deal of respect for Ms. Robers’ professional journalisc abilities and the warmth she displays as I’ve watched her on the “Good Morning America Show,” on ABC network television. I just want to raise Ms. Roberts up in prayer and have faith that she will climb this mountain too long with her family, Loved ones and admirers–and she’ll will win this fight. Hang in there Robin, I know you are a fighter … after all look at were you are in your professional working career—that sure wasn’t easy an easy mountain to climb … But Ha, Lets just pray and Keep the FAITH–No Doubt..None.

    3. I live in New Orleans and feel close to Robin because her sister Sally-Ann Roberts is a long time news anchor here on WWL TV. Sally-Ann is a class act as is Robin. I wish both of them the best. My thoughts are with them and their family.
