  • FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. (AP) — Megachurch pastor Creflo Dollar has been arrested after authorities say he slightly hurt his 15-year-old daughter in a fight at his metro Atlanta home.

Fayette County Sheriff's Office investigator Brent Rowan says deputies responded to a call of domestic violence at the home around 1 a.m. Friday.

Rowan says the 50-year-old pastor and his daughter were arguing over whether she could go to a party when Dollar "got physical" with her, leaving her with "superficial injuries."

Dollar faces misdemeanor charges of simple battery and cruelty to children. He bonded out of Fayette County jail Friday morning. A phone number listed for him didn't connect.

Dollar is the pastor for World Changers Church International in College Park. A spokeswoman for the church did not immediately return a call seeking comment.

    1. I guess the arresting officer feels he done his job. SORRY BUT U DIDNT.If that would have happen in TEXAS the officer would have told CreFlo to give her somemore. TEENS TODAY are very disrespectful. WE assist them in everyway and the dial 911

    2. In today’s times, it needs to be realized more than ever the importance of having a man in a child’s life. Women have tried to do it alone for far too long and when a man steps in and says he is willing to take his role of the leader of the house, he should be applauded. Not for doing what he is supposed to be doing, but doing what few today will do. Creflo Dollar stepped up to show he is the leader of the house and the daughter took offence because he exerted the authority he has as father and leader of his house. We have to realize that now a days, due to media, movies and the like, children feel they have the right to do or say whatever they want, when they want giving them a false sense of entitlement. And the parents, instead of being parents, try to be their friends. If you see how they treat their friends, why would you place yourself on that level to be reviewed in their mind as a peer and not a parent? We have no clue as to the mother’s point of view, but if she did not stand alongside her husband, then she is just as guilty as the daughter in what happened. We need to encourage more men to stand up in their families so that we can turn the tide of disobedience in our homes and raise our children according to the standards of the WORD and not the world.

    3. Wow. You say “one should not judge” and “that little witch must have been acted (sic) like a total bitch”, all in the same paragraph. You must be doing some impressive mental gymnastics to make such opposing thoughts fit inside the same brain.

I don’t hit my kids, maybe they are exceptional, all three of em, but I doubt it. Yeah, they all make/made decent grades (As & Bs), no they haven’t been in trouble with the law, the oldest one did drop out of college, but she works fulltime, pays her bills, and has no debt. Is that exceptional? Surely not. It ain’t rocket science. Go to school, do your homework, find a job, show up on time, work, go home, stay out of trouble. How hard is that? Spending as much time as possible with the kids is the secret I think.

How did Pastor Dollar’s little girl get to this point? Is he now dealing with the result of the upbringing he gave his daughter? Where did he go wrong? I would guess that hitting kids is nothing new in the household. If hitting kids works, why is he having these problems?

And when raising boys, if hitting them is how you discipline them, exactly how well does that work out when the boy is 16 years old, and can whip your ass? Then what? You got nothing, that’s what. You’ve raised someone who thinks the strongest or most violent person gets to decide how things go. That’s exactly what you teach them when you hit them to make them do what you want.

    4. Belts, Brooms. Baby-live-doll with batteries in battery pack, extensions cords, Hot Wheels race tracks, shoes, purses, open hand , close fist , umbrellas, books, hangers, tree limbs, skates, skates boards ..and countless other objects I was beaten with….. in the Name of Jesus (of course )… filled with the Holy Ghost …God fearing house…. Loved but Abused …. Christians don’t be hypocrites …Abuse is Abuse ! It don’t matter if call Jesus’ name before you strike ..it’s still evil ! and does long term damage to your children… Yeah Saints …I know your ugly ways …I’ve lived through it !!! But can’t believe you would justify it !!!

    5. The Pastor made a mistake… simple ! The woman is 15 years old …you don’t hit your daughter at that age… I am a father of two daughters …not to say 15 is grown but it is a transition period where girls turn into woman … and battered girls allow themselves to be battered women .. Yes I would expect a Godly man to handle the situation differently… But men make mistakes… He is not God.. or perfect…he is a parent and parents make plenty of mistake. It is hypocritical to say that is just good parenting… Great pastor doesn’t always mean great parent all the time… Great parents do their best, admit when their wrong and pray a lot ! Pastor should have been praying instead of laying hands…Does the pastor love his daughter ? I am sure he does…but he made a mistake !

    8. I would like to quote Acts of the Apostles, 15:36-40:

Now after some days Paul said to Barnabas: “Above all things, let us return and visit the brothers in every one of the cities in which we published the word of Jehovah to see how they are. For his part, Barnabas was determined to take along also John, who was called Mark. But Paul did not think it was proper to be taking this one along with them, seeing that he had departed from them from Pamphylia and had not gone with them to the work. At this there occurred a sharp burst of anger, so that they separated from each other; and Barnabas took Mark along and sailed away to Cyprus. Paul selected Silas and went off after he had been entrusted by the brothers to the underserved kindness of Jehovah.

Do you understand what happened? Paul and Barnabbas got into an argument. This was not just any argument, however. This argument included a “sharp burst of anger”, perhaps ungentlemanly screaming. Did Jehovah leave the Apostle Paul for his unseeming behavior? According to verse 40, “Paul selected Silas and went off after he had been entrusted by the brothers to the underserved kindness of Jehovah.”

Jehovah God and Jesus Christ His Son know what is in Pastor Dollar’s heart. Even if the pastor engaged in some “unseemingly” behavior, Pastor Dollar was saving not just his daughter’s life, but his life and his wife’s life, since Jehovah and Jesus Christ hold Pastor and Mrs. Dollar responsible for their children.

One of the individuals who posted to the board said: “He should know what his limits are he’s a pastor now his credibility will be ruined.” Well this time maybe the pastor’s anger and frustration caused him not to see his “limits”. No matter — the blood of Jesus covers us when we go past our limit. And with regard to the pastor’s car being repossessed — so what? With Jehovah, the pastor is flying on wings of eagles, so he doesn’t need the car anyway.

Don’t sweat the small stuff Pastor Dollar. Jehovah and Jesus have your back. Thank God you did not give in to your daughter’s wrongful desires. May Jehovah bless you and may the blood of Jesus protect you, your family and your congregation.

    10. He should know what his limits are he’s a pastor now his credibility will be ruined. I was pretty much done with him when the company I worked for repossessed his car I mean he makes all this money through the church and can’t pay your bills! Sounds like he was doing something else with the church’s money.

    11. We are dealing with lots of “multiple standards” in America. It is okay for the police to beat the daylights out of your child, and/or use their tazzers on them for resisting arrest, running away, and/or simply talking back to them (recall that the tazzer was initially only to be used as a none lethal means for getting a person under control, if the person had a knife or another form of weapon that was not a gun (e.g., bat, box cutter, .screw driver, etc.) Now if you talk back to an officer, or don’t move quickly enough when told to do something, you are either threatened with the tazzer or actually tazzed by the officer. Also, note that tazzing has caused many deaths, and some reported deaths from tazzing were during routine traffic stops. On the other hand, if you are a parent disciplining your child; if you hit, slap, spank, etc. your child (no matter the reason), you can be hauled off to jail. And, to add insult to injury, if your child breaks the law, you, the parent can be held responsible for the actions of your child; however, you, the parent, cannot discipline your own child via methods that have been proven to work over the years. Note that the Bible says, “Spare the rod and spoil the child…” I believe that NO child or person should be beaten. Disciplining and beating are not the same! Beating is a “slave mentality” that was passed down from generation to generation. There is a combination of teaching, talking, and firmly disciplining that should be applied. However, this is most effective when performed during the first 5 -6 years of the child’s life. Afterwards, more talking, listening, and reasoning should be practiced by both the parent and child. However, the other form of discipline (spanking, etc.) should remain an option for occasions— what I refer to as “when a child loses their mind”. On those occasions, more forceful methods may be required. It is less likely, when the parent disciplines her/his child, to end in a death, broken bones, and/or other serious bodily injuries; than it would to be beaten down by 5 -10 police officers who do not know you or your child from “Adam”. I am just saying…

    12. There are 45 respondents to this article and 4,310 people who read the respondents’ responses and “Hate It.”

My My! Rather than responding to the responses, let’s hear some of your responses, since you hate what we had to say.

Until you end up in a situation as Pastor Dollar, you may not know what your response will be; and instinct and the circumstances at hand will prevail; though it may be “criminal” or “not popular” in the eyes of those on the outside.

Let’s pray for healing in the Dollar household. And maybe we ought to take a seat and think of our own situations and what our response will be — one that everyone would embrace.

    13. BlackAmericaWeb – shame on you. The story is about the police arresting a man applying some discipline in his home and corporal punishment in response to a minor child’s disobedience. Look at the responses here. This is where BlackAmerica’s outrage is and it is what should be reported. The story is far less about another Mega church pastor getting arrested (knowing that’s what sells).
