Atlantic City, are you ready? First the holiday weekend showcased the talents of Beyonce and New Edition, now this weekend its America’s favorite radio host, Tom Joyner.

Atlantic City, N.J., the seaside resort town that just opened a brand new casino, Revel, where Beyonce performed last week, welcomes Tom Joyner and the Tom Joyner Morning Show. They are honoring Joyner with a special tribute including the key to the city and deeming today, Friday, June 1, “Tom Joyner Day.”

See full schedule of events below.

Joyner, along with co-hosts Sybil Wilkes and J. Anthony Brown will be broadcasting live from Bayport One inside The Touch WTTH (96.1) studios. Afterward, the crew heads over to Surf Stadium where Joyner will be honored and then hang out, taking pictures and signing autographs for fans. The TJMS will also be encouraging listeners to register to vote and will test people for bone marrow donor eligibility. It's Joyner’s first time back in Atlantic City in 14 years.

"I'm excited about coming back to Atlantic City, meeting Mayor Langford and celebrating the multi-cultural festival," Joyner told Shore News Today. "I love talking to my audience every morning, but I really love meeting them in person, and I'll get lots of chances to shake hands and get some big hugs while I'm there."

This special day coincides with the city’s first Multicultural Festival, which is a three-day event taking place through the weekend. The festival includes performances, a parade, a boxing gala, and a tribute to R&B concert featuring Ashanti, Regina Belle and other surprise acts. There are also three free concerts over the weekend – an old school concert featuring Evelyn “Champagne” King, a jazz concert featuring Roy Ayers and a gospel concert. Boxer Mike Tyson, whose current wife is from the Philadelphia area, will be on hand for the entire weekend and will join the TJMS event. His former opponent Michael Spinks and former boxer Thomas “Hitman” Hearns are in town as well.

The city’s mayor, Lorenzo Langford, who is black, says he thought up the festival when he considered his own heritage and the lengthy history of African-Americans in Atlantic City.

“People can expect a good time,” Langford told “Atlantic City Weekly.” “I think the festival basically offers something for everybody. Most of the events are free and we are just looking to celebrate the diversity that is Atlantic City and send a message out that there are fun things to do in Atlantic City. We want to be considered as a place for festivals and stuff like that and we hope it will grow to national prominence."
