Meeka Claxton was not very well liked when she joined the cast of “Basketball Wives” and she was well aware of that.
She recently wrote a blog highlighting some of her experiences and opinions about the show and its cast. And somewhere down the way, it seemed as if she was directing some of her rage at fans.
Her overall outrage was about the violence the show has and continues to promote and the seemingly twisted perspective that violence is entertainment.
But she cleared up the confusion and explained the letter was specifically targeting talk show hosts Wendy Williams and Sherri Shepherd, whom she reached out to get an anti-bullying message to the public.
“That’s what I was looking for, their support as far as these talk-show hosts,” she told Sister 2 Sister. “It kind of bothered me that now they were taking a stand.”
Shepherd said it was a topic of interest, but couldn’t guarantee the topic would be brought up on “The View.”
Williams didn’t respond, until she posted the blog.
“My jaw dropped,” Meeka said, describing her reaction when she read about Williams’ response. “I had reached out to Wendy because I felt that we were parallel. She would feel that this violence is making us look bad and things of that nature. So, the comments that ‘no one cares about you’ and ‘you’re a non-factor,’ honestly, that’s f*cked up,” Meeka said.
The popular talk show host questioned why Meeka even signed up for the show, being that she was the only woman who was actually married to a basketball player.
Meeka, who is happily married, was shocked and felt let down by Williams, a woman who has promoted the need to generate positive images of minority women.
