Although mirror-checking is not an uncommon behavior in women, a new London study found that it is happening more than expected.

The study in Britain’s Daily Mail, surveying 2,000 women, found that women check themselves in the mirror at least eight times a day.

Researchers discovered that at least half of these women would not leave the house without mirror-checking. One out of ten women confessed to using their compact mirrors at least ten times a day.

Women reported hair and makeup touch-ups as the most common reason for multiple mirror checks.

Despite the higher number of women checking themselves in the mirror, 75% of respondents admitted to hating mirror checks. Some of the women believe that it can damage self-confidence especially with the social pressures placed on women to look attractive.
