The brotherhood of New Edition continues their tour, heading down South this weekend. Anita Baker makes a rare appearance in New York City, so if you’re in or near the area it may be worth trying to get some tickets to see the “Sweet Love” singer. (Remember Mother’s Day is coming soon.)
Soulman Anthony Hamilton heads out as well, in support of his album “Back To Love.” If a concert is not in your plans this weekend, there are a few good movies on TV and on Comedy Central, The Comedy Awards, airs on Sunday. Catch Tom Joyner at this year’s Cowboys of Color Rodeo in Oklahoma City. If racing is your thing, the annual Kentucky Derby takes place on Saturday with the “Queen of Hip Hop Soul”, Mary J. Blige, singing the National Anthem. And of course, the anxiously awaited Marvel superhero dream team “The Avengers” flies into theaters in the wake of some great reviews and word-of-mouth so get your tickets early. Read on for more goings on this weekend near you.
