Let me state without equivocation that I love my job, and I love radio. While it is my favorite medium – and working with Tom Joyner is the best gig ever, the opportunity to spend a day as a TV sidekick has presented itself. And I’d like to do it.
“Live with Regis and Kelly” has a contest looking for the Women of Radio to spend a day as co-host with Regis Philbin for a day. But in order to make this happen, I NEED YOU! To borrow from one of J’s favorite childhood impersonations as LBJ – “I come to you tonight with a heavy heart …” – I come to you today with a light heart to ask for your votes. Why do I want to do this? I hadn’t given it a thought until my colleague, Jawn Murray, brought the contest to my attention. Now that my name has been tossed into the Internet hat, I’m going back to my Chicago roots and asking you to VOTE EARLY and VOTE OFTEN at http://www.LivewithRegisandKelly.com. A day on one of the nation’s most popular talk shows would give it a decided boost of flavor and introduce some of the audience members to the best show on radio, “The Tom Joyner Morning Show.”
Also, I like the challenge of doing something different, if only for one day. I need to come out of my comfort zone every once in a while. Just as I have climbed ladders without looking down while helping to build houses or even gone on some of the blind dates I’ve had, I think this will be unlike anything I’ve ever done. I welcome a new challenge and experience.
And it would be fun! I can bring partying with a purpose to the “Live with Regis and Kelly” audience with the discussions that are often heard on the TJMS, but not always in mainstream America.
