A judge has closed a hearing for four former Auburn University football players charged with robbery.

Lee County Circuit Judge Steven Speakman barred the public and media from attending the preliminary hearing on Wednesday. A court spokeswoman says he did it because three of the former athletes are under 21 years of age and their lawyers asked for a closed hearing.

Antonio Goodwin, Shaun Kitchens, Mike McNeil and Dakota Mosley are free on bond following their arrests last month in an alleged holdup at the home of other college students.

Some of the evidence prosecutors say they have against the athletes could come out during the hearing.

Coach Gene Chizik kicked all four off the national championship team after their arrests on charges of robbery, theft and burglary.
