Dear Tom:
My Christmas wish is for my daughter, Laqueenia Brown. Queenie, as she is affectionately known, is an amazing young lady. She is my miracle baby surviving a stroke at birth that could have left her blind, but didn’t. As a senior in high school, she was diagnosed with lupus and had to miss the last three weeks of school. In spite of her diagnosis, she still graduated 3rd in her class with a 4.0 GPA and worked to put her lupus symptoms in remission.
Queenie has earned her undergraduate and masters’ degree from Howard University on the bill gates scholarship. She is currently studying for her doctorate degree at the Adler school of professional psychology in Chicago. Her plan is to join the military after she graduates, so she can serve her country and fellow soldiers.
Queenie recently wrote an essay and won the great honor of volunteering for two weeks in Morocco, Africa with a missionary group. Her work there will count towards her degree, but she must cover the expensive airfare. Tom it takes a village to raise a child and i am reaching out to my extended village to ask for this Christmas Wish to cover queenie’s airfare to morocco. She is a hard working beautiful young woman with a survivor’s spirit and a winner’s determination and i hope you can help her.
